Issue Workaround Step-by-step: Still having issues?

Affects Playback v1.3.5.123 released June 27, 2025

Issue

If you're running a Desktop + Web (DW) session and using a Blackmagic device for both video and audio input, Guests may report hearing metallic, robotic, or distorted audio.

This issue only affects the Guest’s audio feed. The Organizer's audio monitoring will sound normal, and everything may appear fine on your end.

It only occurs when:

  • You're using a Blackmagic device for both video and audio input
  • The session type is Director + Web (DW)

It does not affect:

  • Sessions where Blackmagic is used for video only
  • Desktop Only (DO) sessions

Workaround

Until we issue a fix, you can avoid this problem by making sure your Blackmagic device is configured before launching Remoto Playback.

Step-by-step:

  1. Quit Remoto Playback completely.
  2. Be sure the app is fully closed—not just minimized.
  3. Launch DaVinci Resolve (or whichever app uses your Blackmagic device).
  4. This ensures the system recognizes the hardware.
  5. Open Audio MIDI Setup (found in Applications > Utilities).
  6. In Audio MIDI Setup:
    1. Locate your Blackmagic audio device
    2. Set both Input and Output to Stereo.
  7. Now launch Remoto Playback.

Start your session as usual. Guests should now hear clean, undistorted audio.
